Cern 05 project is a futuristic race with jet-powered bikes

Concept designer Luigi Memola has envisioned a future race with turbine-powered three-wheeled vehicles operated by remotely controlled droids

Cern 05 Bike Concept by Luigi Memola - Design RenderSet in a not too distant future, Cern 05 is a new racing category in which motorcycles, equipped by jet engines, are so powerful that are driven only by remotely operated droids.

These are controlled by the human pilots who are immersed in special tanks that are able to connect the their brains to the CPU of the robots.

Given the high speeds, the vehicle stability is increased through the long wheelbase and the three-wheels layout.

The large front wheel features a tire with grilled air openings for supplying air to the turbine, while the rear tires are mounted on hubless wheels connected to the body through swing arms that integrate the mufflers.

The shape of the fork – which also houses a large air intake – combined with the front wheel defines a spherical volume.

The motorcycle is not steered through the rotation of the front fork, but through the different angles of the rear wheels. The suspension features a pneumatic actuator put under pressure by the exhaust gases of the turbine.

The concept was fully modeled in Rhinoceros, and rendered in Keyshot (dark version with droids) and Maxwell Render (white bike), with final adjustments made in Photoshop.

As with Luigi’s all other vehicles and robots, Cern 05 belongs to a vehicle line-up manufactured by the fictional company AEG27.
