Filling the gap between the Fabia and Octavia, the new model – whose actual name is still uncertain – will compete with sedans like the Renault Fluence, and will be the first model fully developed under the direction of Slovakian chief designer Jozef Kabaň.
As AutoDesign&Styling magazine reports, “according to Škoda representatives, the five-door liftback will not be the only body version.”
Designer Marek Piano Kedzierski has based his sketches on the styling of the recent MissionL Concept, removing the most concept-like elements, such as the stretched fenders, recessed handles and LED lights, and imagining a wagon model – in combi and sportback variants – and a two-door sporty version inspired by the Škoda Rapid from the eighties – an interesting variant, yet more unlikely to reach production.
“The ‘big roomy car characterised by emotion and an affordable price tag’ is to probably be somewhere between a hatchback (as was for example the VisionD concept) and a sports wagon, as suggested for idnes.cz by member of the board and chief of technical development, Eckhard Scholz, about a prepared body variant.”
