Rigoletti develops Nissan ‘Art of Mobility’ design sculpture

The Art of Mobility project was developed by the design students at Rigoletti in collaboration with Nissan Design America (NDA).

The sculpture – unveiled at the school on February 2nd – features a mix of muscular and dynamic volumes, and aims at capturing the essence of Nissan design and imagining how the future transportation design in Latin America could look like.

For the project the main inspirations were iconic Nissan’s cars (GT-R, Maxima and 370Z), conceptual aviation, modern architecture and nature.

The sculpture was developed by students Alejandro Miranda, Arturo Millan, Kin Moreno, Mauricio Jhoset, Mauro Juarez, Miguel Exiga and Ricardo Casillas, in collaboration with NDA designers Robert Bauer, Randy Rodriguez and Ryan Campbell.

3D digital data from Rigoletti was used to create the full size sculpture at NDA’s facility in Mexicali, México assisted by Abraham Castillo, Carlos Sánchez, Librado Arballo and Israel Villegas.

At the unveiling event were present Nissan Design America Vice-president Alfonso Albaisa, NDA Design Manager Robert Bauer, Nissan Mexicana President José Muñóz and Founder and Director of Rigoletti Casa de Diseño Alberto Rigoletti.

Alfonso Albaisa said “In Nissan we were very excited on collaborating with Rigoletti on creating innovative shapes that can teach future transportation design education in México.”

Rigoletti Casa de Diseño founder Alberto Rigoletti commented “The Art of Mobility sculpture represents the complete understanding and capability of our students to identify the Nissan brand values and translate them to an artistic expression but immerse into the brand’s DNA.”

Since January 2007 NDA started a relationship with Rigoletti Casa de Diseño, sponsoring other transportation design programs and offering internships to the students among the NDA Design Studio, located in San Diego, California and the Mexicali, Baja California facility.
