The sportscar featured in the recent “The Avengers” movie was officially presented by Honda/Acura back in April and previews an open version expected to be launched together with the coupé in 2014.
As video by InsideLine explains, the NSX roadster was built based on a 1991 NSX, modified to match the styling of the upcoming 2014 NSX.
The work was carried out by Honda under the direction of Dave Marek, Division Director at Honda R&D Americas.
Dave Marek explains: “We had to adapt the old car to the new car styling. We wanted to keep the doors skin as much as possible, it was more (about) morphing the fenders into the doors.”
“The biggest issue was width. The donor car was quite a bit narrower that what the actual NSX was going to be, but visually it looks almost the same.”
The interior remained almost untouched, including the original audio system equipped with a stock cassette player.
