Ethan Anh Pham devised a two-door coupe that employed the three keywords Mazda uses to define its new “Kodo: Soul of Motion” design language – speed, tense and alluring – and chose the image of a phoenix rising up from the ashes as his visual inspiration.
“I chose the image of a phoenix rising up from the ashes to represent Gen Y and Mazda for two reasons, “ says Anh Pham.
“One is because both have been through so many ups and downs – Gen Y and 9/11; Mazda and Hiroshima in 1945 – and both have grown so much stronger and powerful after being associated with those two tragic events.
“The second reason is because the image of the phoenix really fits with Mazda’s design language.”

1 question – is Ethan Anh Pham a Vietnamese? 🙂
and how can i contact him? – await your reply
I’m 99% sure that “Pham” is a Vietnamese name…I’m not sure what “Ethan” is…it sounds a little English…more specifically Wales so it’s a toss-up
OH…ok alright thanks, but do you know his email address or facebook so i can contact him? I have jst turned 17 today and always been thinking of my career in the future – vehicle designing which is what Ethan Pham seems to be doing! and I’m a bit concerned about that and uni, job… so it’s better if I can contact him or someone who authorizes or at least knows about it clearly!And I know that not many people have a clue on this – Cheers
@ Jay Ho Dac, if transportation design is what you want to get into, you should check out some of these schools- http://www.artcenter.edu/accd/index.jsp – http://www.collegeforcreativestudies.edu/ – http://www.rca.ac.uk/ – These are just some of the ones out there. I’m currently taking classes at Art Center at Night, a public program which prepares you for admission into the degree program and I highly recommend it. Send me your email if you want some more info!
Thank you very very much for your reply! First question: can I go straight to any car-Design Uni like the RCA after finishing my A-levels which I’m currently doing *AS* or do I have to take some sort of general design universities at firsf in order to attend car-designing course? (this is my email – jayhd@outlook.com) – Cheers! :}
