Saline Airstream Concept

The Saline Airstream is a race motorbike created for the Les Triplettes de Bonneville speed record event.

The bike has an aluminum/magnesium frame which consists of two parts: the first includes the front section and the seat frame, and its rotation angle can be adjusted.

This allows to have two configurations: a road position and a “record” position, with an extended wheelbase, increased caster angle and reduced height.

The Airstream is powered by a compressed air engine provided by MDI, combined with 3 gas cylinders with total capacity of 27 liters.

Other technical partners of the project include Luxfer (air cylinders), Avon (tires), Marchesini (rims), Beringer (brakes) and Fournales (suspensions).

As the designers explains, “this bike represents all the French audacity and eccentricity. […] This bike is exclusive, minimalist, simple, efficient and serves as a technological showcase of the “savoir-faire” of the “Triplettes”.”

The Saline Airstream was created by a team of five design students at the ISD of Valenciennes (France):
